past week

Playing for TRAC was definitely a great experience. 3 things I learnt:
- Old People can enjoy contemporary songs. Wonder why that doesn't seem to be the case in PnP.
- The East IS outer space
- Some tips for my drumming that I shan't bother you with

So. Ok on tuesday after playing I went over to Nic's house (thanks for entertaining me nicole) and i suppose you could say I made the most of the time I had there? I also discovered that being near bankrupt in monopoly doesn't mean you're out of the game :D. right after that I took a stupid express bus down to town which cost me 2.01 (so much for cheap transport). And it wasn't even that EXPRESS la. Yup poor dwee couldn't watch the movie because it was NC16 but he nicely waited for Limzy and I while he ... hung around. Then we went over to meridien for dinner and pool, and amazingly Dwee won EVERY single game he played. It was the second or third time he was playing only... Well against me I gave him the game both times by potting the black but he actually beat Limzy. So poor Limzy was winless. Then bus home.

On thursday, I went to Eugene's place after TRAC to kill time before my drum lesson at 4pm. So had lunch, watched him assemble his latest bass and then met Jia who was having her first bass lesson!!! Had fantastic dinner at a old family friend's house and finished my first ever plate of Mee Siam. For those of you who don't know I'm very un-singaporean and I rarely ever take spicy stuff and all.

Friday. Ah went to rifle to play a horrendous game of ball with Thong, Conrad, Brandon, Leon, Nick. Then went to Jerrold's place in the afternoon before heading down to church for band prac. Another amazing night oh boy my holidays are fun. Supper/Dinner @ Carls Jr where I ate tonnes and probably didn't gain anything from all that junkfood, fats in my arteries excluded.

As for today, I just spent the day at home and went to play ball around 330-645 or something. Finally played well. Took these two rounds of 10 3pters and first time round I went 20% and second time I went 10% :(. apparently 3s are one thing I do better in games because after that I made quite a lot. As for the free throw line over MANY attempts of "sets" of 10 I just couldn't get over the 70% mark.

So. How's everybody else?

So the second week begins

The Daily
Thursday: Drum lesson, fantastic dinner/night. Even if it was only 3 pratas but like that matters when you're with wonderful people.

Friday: PAE briefing, bridge, band prac

Saturday: Gym

Sunday: Played for worship, and it went pretty good. God is awesome. After lunch went with Thong to sentosa to meet Clarissa Mildred and Jia. Stella came later on. Err played frisbee and had ice cream, then took bus home with Thong and Jia. They're learning bass!! (Jumps for joy) Thong stayed the night.

Today: Watched the Kings beat the Pistons. Played pool, went gym, home.

I'll be playing for TRAC tomorrow-thursday. Then band prac on friday, so it's gonna be a drum filled week.

o is for over

I'm going to experiment with a more effective way of blogging. Every basic post shall now have a few main components; daily happenings, political/social nonsense that you honestly shouldn't bother reading, nba stuff (for me to to seethe about in the future) and err... other personal random stuff.

Ok to start off, here are my overall holiday goals.
1. Grow in My Walk with God
2. Improve in Basketball
3. Improve Drumming, namely double bass playing

sub goals include toppling the Himalayas, churning butter out of an ocean of milk and reaching 50 kg by the end of the year. Please friends, stuff me with food.

The Daily
Yesterday marked the end of O's, and as everyone should know we're rejoicing. I watched Stardust in the evening and had a nice night with the guys. I actually won a few bridge games!!! With my crap hand and all. Henceforth, tuesday night shall be known to me as Bridge Night. It's also the best day to go out because movies are at their cheapest!

As for today, I spent the morning watching some rather boring NBA games, such as Kobe being held to 18 points but that'll come later. I then began my painful journey experiencing the hardships of coordination that will one day seem so stupid and easy. Going to play ball in a bit.

The NBA
Forgive me for this. I know I'm not going to be the next John Hollinger or Maurice Brooks or Rick Kamla but hey I think I can write better about the NBA now than anything local newspapers have written. Today I watched most of the Lakers Spurs game so that's what I'll focus on. Before that, Kings are now 2-5 after another road loss to the Jazz. Boston Celtics remain the only unbeaten team at 6-0. Alright, so basically Spurs blow out the Lakers at home, Kobe scored 18 on 9-19 shooting and no Free throws(I think). Bad news; my fantasy squad with kobe suffers. Good news; my fantasy squad with Parker and Ginobili improve! Oh this poor performance by kobe means Kevin Martin gets a step closer to becoming the leading scorer, but he'll have to get past TMAC who is scoring tons of points but not being a good fantasy player due to other reasons. Portland goes 4-0 at home, Detroit today! LaMarcus Aldridge had better be good fantasy value for me.

Random Personal Stuff
I'm really happy to see God moving in FOB. Just pray hard that we can continue to bond and unite, both on a social and spiritual level. Although he's probably not going to see this, a BIG thank you to Caleb Lim for the tremendous effort he put into these past weeks. It is not easy playing every week, especially drumming (he's probably gonna go deaf a year earlier now). So yes Caleb thank you for covering for me and the rest of the drummers and you deserve a good long break. I'm playing this week!

Alright then hope this post was slightly more substantial than the nonsense I've been putting up over the last few weeks. Year. Whatever. I'm off to go play ball, and hopefully, the rims are going to be changed soon because I really don't like them.

woohoo

In retrospect I'm beginning to feel that I'm not going to do very well for O's. Like...Maybe it's just some expectation that if I get anything wrong it means I'm not gonna get an a1. Nonetheless Lit went well yesterday, and I actually understood and knew what I wanted to write fairly quickly. So in comparison with prelims so far I'd say Lit has been the best, surprisingly. But that's because lit was the worse for prelims. A few points I want to discuss... I shall make it 5 points.

- Happy Birthday Andrew
- Michael sucks at Fantasy Basketball. I don't understand my players just... bah I think like I'm getting cheated by FG percentages and what not.
- Yesterday's Affairs. I'm done with GEOG FOREVER!!! At night watched Game Plan with thong and nic. Good show, rather heartwarming and also provides good laughs. Next up: Stardust
- The Kings won their first game yesterday, so by record they're not worst anymore. They are now 1-3.
- If life were a novel, here's how I'd write it. Thong would be the protagonist, Limzy would be the antagonist, all the girls I know can be the beautiful damsels at thong's mercy and Andrew would be the fat hacker guy. Justin would play the guard who gets killed in chapter 1.

After tomorrow we'll all be FREE LIKE A BIRD!!! Are magic number 8 balls allowed for O level mcq? Anyway hope everyone's been alright. I think I've only done average for the papers but who knows God works miracles. Today, I shall make my first post regarding the new NBA season.

Predictions: Phoenix VS Boston in finals, with phoenix winning. (unless injuries happen)
Don't believe a word that Singapore tells you about the NBA. The reporters know about as much as the average 5 year old in the USA about basketball. Nevertheless the one thing they may be right concerns my favourite team. Ladies and Gentlemen... your SACRAMENTO KINGS (now on a 0-3 "winning" record). What beats playing two title contenders in the first 3 games back to back? Playing them without your star and only pointguard who is injured till next year, and without your star defensive SF who's been suspended for slapping his wife. or something. This means we're gonna get next year's number 1 pick Oj mayo or Derrick Rose and we're gonna finally rebuild.

Oh and we're paying a guy ... ok in fact we're paying 3 guys a combined total of US$18487250 for a whopping 8 total rebounds so far (in 3 games, and these are our PFs), 8.7 points and 0.0 blocks. Heck Earl Boykins could get more rebounds than them. I Could get more rebounds then them, and score more too. So much for Professionals.

Now, I'm going to make a sad sad cry to all my nice usher friends. But first, let me scold Mildred Ho and Natalie Tan. For not going for ANY of the ushering retreats ( 0 out of 2) since last june. And somehow I bet that when I miss this years combined retreat, at least one of you will go. I think I need to establish better relation(friend)ships with my fellow ushers. Some of whom I shall now name.
-Liz
-Jolyn
-Traci
-Thesec3gang
I just realised that there's only Thong, Me, Zhiyang, Matt, Zane, Darren to make up the guy squad. Oh that sucks. Where's buff ol' Jong when you need him? Yeah so I feel that with the other ushers I'm pretty ok... like i have had fairly long interest conversations with you and stuff.

I also need to get closer to my group, FOB! Lately I've become much closer to the other Michael, cos we chat on msn and stuff. Err...I'm quite good friends with Jia and Zhiyang and Clarissa and given the opportunity Mil and Russell. (this is all in my opinion for all I know they may hate me :O). So I need to get to know Eugene, Wensi err Shen? I don't know whoever the more "regular" people are. Since I'm ranting, I think Wensi is very tall. and funny.
Congrads if you read up to here.

Now that is preparation for lit. bye
